Introducing Windstone Wellness Center: Expanding Our Vision for Healing

For nearly a decade, Windstone Counseling has been a space centered on healing, growth, connection, and meaningful change. What began in 2017 as a private counseling practice with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed and equine-assisted psychotherapy has continued to evolve alongside the people and communities it serves.

Today, that evolution is reflected in a new name: Windstone Wellness Center.

This change is more than a rebrand. It represents a broader vision of healing—one that continues to value psychotherapy while making space for additional approaches that support the mind, body, and spirit.

Why the Change?

Healing does not always happen through words alone.

Traditional psychotherapy can be deeply valuable, but many people also benefit from approaches that incorporate movement, nature, sensory awareness, breath, creativity, mindfulness, and embodied experience. Over time, Windstone has increasingly embraced these forms of healing alongside evidence-informed clinical care.

The transition from Windstone Counseling to Windstone Wellness Center reflects that growth.

Counseling remains an important part of the work we do via telehealth, walk-and-talk sessions, and equine-assisted psychotherapy. At the same time, Windstone is expanding its wellness offerings to include services such as yoga and sound healing, with the intention of continuing to develop an increasingly integrated approach to emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The new name simply gives the practice room to become what it has been growing toward.

Our Guiding Philosophy
Healing Mind, Body, and Spirit

Healing Mind, Body, and Spirit

Emotional health is influenced by far more than thoughts alone. Stress, trauma, grief, relationships, life transitions, and chronic overwhelm can affect the nervous system, body, sense of connection, identity, and ability to feel grounded in everyday life.

Because of this, healing may involve different pathways at different times.

One person may benefit from talking through an experience in a telehealth session. Another may find that walking outdoors makes difficult conversations feel more natural. Someone else may gain insight through an interaction with a horse, reconnect with their body through yoga, or experience rest and regulation through sound-based practices.

Rather than viewing these approaches as completely separate, Windstone Wellness Center recognizes that meaningful healing can be supported through a variety of experiences.

The goal is not to prescribe one path for everyone. It is to create space for individualized care that respects each person’s needs, preferences, values, strengths, and goals.

The Windstone Story Continues

Although the name is changing, the meaning behind Windstone remains unchanged.

The name was created in recognition of Dr. Leslie Wind, a beloved social work professor, mentor, and dear friend whose influence profoundly shaped both the personal and professional foundation of the practice.

“Wind” reflects her name.
“stone” represents the strength, stability, and support she provided throughout that journey.

Dr. Wind passed away from cancer in 2021, but her legacy continues to be woven into the heart of Windstone Wellness Center. Her commitment to compassion, authenticity, growth, and meaningful human connection remains part of the foundation upon which the practice continues to grow.

Becoming Windstone Wellness Center does not move away from those roots. It builds upon them.

What Is Staying the Same?

While the name and visual identity are evolving, the values behind the practice remain consistent.

Windstone will continue to emphasize:

  • Individualized and collaborative care
  • Trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
  • Authentic therapeutic relationships
  • Respect for each client’s autonomy and lived experience
  • Experiential and whole-person approaches to healing
  • Opportunities for greater self-awareness, resilience, connection, and meaningful change

Most importantly, clients will continue to be treated as whole people rather than just a collection of symptoms.

What Is Growing?

Beyond its traditional counseling services, Windstone has expanded its offerings to include yoga, sound healing, and other experiential and wellness-based approaches.

Over time, the vision is to continue building a space where traditional clinical care and complementary wellness practices can exist alongside one another in thoughtful and intentional ways.

The goal is not simply to help people feel less distressed; rather, it is to support people in becoming more grounded, connected, self-aware, and resilient, while building lives that feel authentic, fulfilling, and meaningful.

A New Chapter, Rooted in the Same Purpose

There is something meaningful about allowing a practice to grow as its vision becomes clearer.

Windstone Counseling began with a commitment to creating a safe and supportive place for healing. Windstone Wellness Center carries that commitment forward while embracing a wider understanding of what healing can look like.

The name may be changing, but the heart of Windstone remains the same.

This is simply the next chapter.

Welcome to Windstone Wellness Center. Healing Mind, Body, and Spirit.
